Love Makes the World Go Round, but Laughter Keeps Us From Getting Dizzy Week

We could all use a little more love and laughter in the world, and this week serves as a great reminder! It’s Love Makes the World Go Round, but Laughter Keeps Us From Getting Dizzy Week (try saying that 10 times fast!) February 8th through the 14th!

Love and laughter are both important elements for every human being, but it can take on an even more special role for those in addiction recovery.

How has love and laughter influenced your sobriety?

Maybe you have more love for yourself now than you ever thought possible.

Maybe you laugh more now because you now see the humor in the little things.

Maybe you have stronger relationships now that allow you to give and receive more love.

There are so many ways love and laughter can bring happiness into our lives, and it’s worth taking the time to be thankful for each experience.

When things at work might not be going the greatest, or you spilled coffee on your shirt for the third time this month, it can be hard to focus on anything other than the negatives.

For the entirety of this week, make a pledge to spend 5-10 minutes every night giving gratitude to the things in your life that deserve it.

If it serves you in no way, then it was just a fun little experiment. However, taking the time to be mindful and grateful can have a multitude of benefits, and likely lead you to a place where you experience more love, laughter, and ultimately joy.

If love, laughter, and joy are among a list of nouns you don’t use often to describe your life or your experiences due to addiction, remember that that is not a reality you must succumb to. We can’t help you make the decision to seek treatment, but we can help with every piece that comes afterward; take the first step today and we’ll walk with you the rest of the way.]
